All My Sons

Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman has been considered one of America's greatest plays. But Miller's first success on Broadway, ALL MY SONS has often been called the "better play".
Like most great American playwrights, Miller writes about family at the crossroads where truth trumps the lie often with tragic consequences. ALL MY SONS is set in the back yard of the Keller house in 1947. Joe Keller is a successful manufacturer. In order to save his business and to leave something of value to his son Chris, he made a decision during the war to ship faulty aircraft parts to the air force. As a result, twenty-one pilots were killed and his son, Larry, is missing in action. Joe and his partner, Steve Denver, were sent to prison, but after an appeal, Joe was exonerated and set free. And that's just The Beginning of the story. The play explores the conflict between social and familial responsibility. When Joe places his family above the lives of others, there are unexpected consequences for all.
