International Symposium „touring artists“
Organised by the Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste and the International Theatre Institute, supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
Realised in cooperation with artist associations in Germany and the European
networks European Council of Artists, International network for contemporary
performing arts (IETM), CultureActionEurope and On-the-move.
Art in times of mobility: more and more artists are searching for
inspiration in other locations and in an exchange with other artists
worldwide. Exhibitions in other countries or international guest
performances belong to the daily routine. But with the increase in mobility,
artists' problems with different legal contexts in the various countries –
even within the EU – increase as well: taxes, social security, visas,
transport, copyright law. Reliable and easily accessible information is
needed in these fields, as well as answers to the question: Where can
artists find support for their international projects?
On April 18th 2013, the website http://www.touring-artists.info/ – an online
information portal for artists working in an international context – will be
started in the presence of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture
and the Media, Bernd Neumann, Ms. Helga Trüpel member of the European
Parliament as well as representatives of the European Commission. The
website will be launched as a kick off event for a one-day symposium
focussing in discussions and experts talks on issues such as visa allocation
practices, sponsoring programmes and information services.
