Bucks County Playhouse to Present Screening of the Film Summer of &#03942 Musical Version

Cover art for the 1972 filmSummer of '42 Bucks County Playhouse will present a free screening of the 1972 Academy Award-winning film Summer of '42 on July 8. The event will whet the audience's taste for the story in advance of Bucks County Playhouse's premiere of the movie's musical adaptation.

The musical production of Summer of '42 will begin July 25 and run through August 11. It features a book by Tony nominee Hunter Foster (Hands on a Hardbody) and music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum (Vanities). 
Summer of '42 is a coming-of-age story about three teenage boys living on a tiny island off the coast of Maine during World War II.
Bucks County Playhouse is a regional theater that opened in 1939 on the site of a grist mill dating from the late eighteenth century. Helen Hayes, Grace Kelly, Robert Redford, and many more have performed at the theater.
