Kids Week announces 2013 line-up
The line-up for this year’s Kids Week has been announced with a massive 34 top London shows on board to offer free tickets to children aged 16 and under with every adult ticket purchased.
Following 2012’s record-breaking, London Lifestyle Award-winning success, our annual campaign will this year once again run for the whole of the month of August with a packed schedule of performances, free activities and workshops on offer for children and their families.
Organised by the company behind Official London Theatre, Society of London Theatre, Kids Week is now in its 16th year and aims to encourage families to experience the magic of theatre and welcome children through the West End’s doors. As well as receiving a free child’s ticket with every adult ticket purchased for a Kids Week show, Kids Week bookers are also able to book a further two children’s tickets for half price.
Handily arranged into genres and age suitability on the Kids Week website, this year’s crop of shows really has something for everyone. Play loving families can choose from seven-time Olivier Award winner The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time, The 39 Steps, Fences, The Ladykillers, One Man, Two Guvnors, War Horse, The Woman In Black or the classic whodunit The Mousetrap.
If musicals are more your bag there are dozens to choose from with many of the West End’s most popular shows on offer including Billy Elliot The Musical, The Bodyguard, A Chorus Line, Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage, Disney's The Lion King, The Golden Voice, Let It Be, Mamma Mia!, Matilda The Musical, Les Misérables, Monty Python’s Spamalot, Jersey Boys, The Phantom Of The Opera, Rock Of Ages, The Sound Of Music, Thriller Live, Top Hat, West Side Story, We Will Rock You and Wicked.
For something completely different, why not try the hugely successful Stomp or discover life-sized puppets at Dinosaur Zoo. Page to stage favourites Horrible Histories – Barmy Britain also have treats in store while younger children are sure to be thrilled by the popular We’re Going On A Bear Hunt.
Alongside the stellar line-up of family favourites and exciting new shows is a jam-packed range of activities and events. This year kids will have the opportunity to try their hand – or feet – at ballet, learn classic pop songs with the cast of Let It Be and tap dance with Top Hat, with lots more to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
