Fantasy Performance of “Mother Courage and Her Children” with Dolls’ Acting
Zahra Sabri, a director who is mostly known for combing puppet show and live theatre said that in “Mother Courage and Her Children” she has experienced difficult test with choosing a Bertolt Berecht play.
Iran Theater- Zahra Sabri talked about the reason of choosing a play of Bertolt Berecht: “This play has been one of my favorite texts and I decided to use puppet show besides live theatre according my liking. If it was not possible to work in this condition I’ve never chosen this play.”
She continued.” World of theatre is very big and every director has a special look and way in performing a text. For me, combination of live and puppet theatre has this taste that I can enter the character to the fantasy world which gave me more freedom and span. Therefore, I’m saying that with deleting puppet part, the text das not enough attraction for me, while the live part of this performance is much more.”
At the end of this interview she explained about the presence of Fatemeh Motamed Aria, veteran actress in this play: “both of us were interested in each other’s works. Fortunately this work happened.”
“Mother Courage and Her Children” play is one of Bertolt Berecht (German playwright)’s works and narrates the story of an old woman who take advantage from drought during the war time with her two sons and her dumb daughter. This play will be performed from July 24th in Ghashghayi Hall of City Theatre Complex.
In this fusion theatre which is combination of live and puppet theatre actors like Fatemeh Motamed Aria, Fatemeh Naghavi, Behnaz Jafari, and Setareh Pesyani are playing.
