An Odyssey-like Journey of A Composer in City Theatre Complex Main Hall

Mohammad Rahmanian who recently has worked on combination of music and theatre in his recent works believes that this companionship has been more developed in his last work named; “Pastoral Songs”.
Iran Theatre- While he was speaking in press conference of “Pastoral Songs” believed that writing the text of this play was harder than his previous works. Also the specialty of this work is presence of pastoral professional instrument players and singers who sing pastoral songs.
“Pastoral Songs” theatre is the story of a man who returns Iran after finishing his PhD thesis in composing, and after 20 years being away from Iran and working on 9 Iranian main films of ever. In the process of his dramatic journey the audience be in touch with some pastoral music pieces of Iran; Kurdish, Baloushi, Khorasani, and Gilak.
Rahmanian said that this is the Odyssey-like journey of a composer for being close to suffers and wishes of people by music. As he recently directed number of works which were combination of theatre and music now believes that this is the effect of rereading of Brecht’s works because reading his plays with Rahmanian’s today knowledge was shocking and applying music and song in Brecht’s works has reached him to a new look to him as a playwright .
He emphasized that Brecht’s using of songs in his works has been for two reasons; first for making deeper communication with his audience and another one for making distance with realistic situation. As Rahmanian said he was in search of having a new experience in dramatic space and these theatres are in following of his experimental dramatic works which he likes to have in different dramatic genres; now he intends to work on theatre-music performance.
As he told each of his work was formed based on a primary idea that has written the main text during rehearse with his actors.
“Pastoral Songs” will go on stage from July 30th with acting of Mahtab Nasirpour, Zhaleh Sameti, Ali Omrani, Amir Kaveh Ahanin Jan, Ali Sarabu, Houman Bargh Navard, Ramin Naser Nasir, Ashkan Khatibi, Hana Kamkar, Soha Sanajoo, Parastoo Rahmanian, Maral Bani Adam in City Theatre Complex main hall. The music composer is Fardin Khalatbari.
