Men from Women’s Vision Subject of One of the Tehran Bestseller Theatres

 “When Shakespeare’s Ladies Meet” theatre based on Charles George’s text, directed by Bahareh Rahnama went on the stage in Samandarian Hall of Iranshahr Theatre Hall these days.

Iran Theater-The main text of this play which is mostly welcomed by the audience is revised by Bahareh Rahnama and has jad many changes also it profited of improvisation during the performance.

As Bahareh Rahnama told only five percent of the Charles George’s text has remained in this play which included dialogues that were written by Shakespeare. Rahnama pointed that these changes are because of being old and cliché of the main text that gives the sense of this comedy is back to 400 years ago.

The director pointed to changes like deleting two characters, general changes in two other characters, complete change of dialogues and change in beginning and ending of the play. She also said that all of her attempt and Peyman Ghasemkhani’s who has been the writing advisor of the text to maintain the voice of Shakespeare in the play.

The play went to stage with acting of famous Iranian cinema, TV and theatre actors like Mahnaz Afshar, Nasim Adabi, Kamand Amir Solaymani, Bahareh Rahnama, Sahar Dowlatshahi and Behnoush Bakhtiari.

The story of the play happens in the situation that love of Juliet to Romeo is reached to the level that she might suicide for him. In this time, some of the women of Shakespeare’s plays come out from history to tell her that no love and nothing has any value to commit suicide.

Bahareh Rahnama who follows comedy genre in Iranian theatre these years very seriously believes that this school is very similar to life and because of this issue, audiences welcome this kind of works because they see laugh and cry beside each other.
