People Who Have Been Bait Of War/The Famous Iranian Actress Talks About “Mother Courage and Her Children”
Fatemeh Motamed Aria, the Famous Iranian Actress who plays as leading role of “Mother Courage and Her Children” these days, counts the characters of Bertolt Berecht’s play as strong ones.
Iran Theater- Fatemeh Motamed Aria who has experienced scene and cinema for many times at the same time and has had different spheres in her work talks about the trend of performing “Mother Courage and Her Children” directed by Zahra Sabri and says: “First of all I have to say that we couldn’t perform this play as complete as it was because of different things like social conditions also tolerance of people. On the other hand, we asked each other that If Berecht was alive he will become content of this performance or not? “
“You have to perform this text of Berecht in three to four hours. We had to keep the main theme of his work and shorten it basically because of circumstances and what Mrs. Sabri believed in her work.” Actress of “Mother Courage and Her Children” added.
She that worked with authentic Iranian film directors like Rakhshan Bani Etemad, Bahman Farman Ara, MMOhsen Makhmalbaaf, Bahram Bayzayi and…explains about the main motif of “Mother Courage and Her Children”:Beresht’s talks are divided to three parts in this play; first the war conditions and change that cause changes in people, second, talks about sacrifirs of war and in next process talks about war heads. All the play is around these subjects.”
In continuing the interview Motamed Aria talks about the characters of the play: “Power of characters of this special play of Berecht is so much and can be sample. However, the subject of the play is modern. Here, people are being lost in war even they become bait of war. It is not important that where we stand in the world and talk, everywhere that a war happens will destroy you wherever you be.
