Fight of Bald Paladin with Shah Abbas/Performance of A Play Based on Traditions of Iranian Theatre

In comedy of "Bald Enayat" directed by Javad Ensafi which goes on stage in Sangelaj Hall a bald paladin will fight with Shah Abbas.
Iran Theater-Bald paladins were athletes who appeared in cities of Iran during Safavid monarchy in 16th century and continued their social life until 20th century.
Their appearance was that they cut the hair of middle of their heads. They were welknown for their honesty and generosity. They behaved noble and helped to poor people.
These historical heroes entered to the world of Iranian theatre from reality, of course they had comic atmosphere.
Theatre tradition of playing bald was common in three centuries and beside of Taziyeh (epic plays which have religious subjects), Takht Hozi (Kind of comedy that the main character black his face), Naghali (single performance and narrating),…it became one of the play styles of Iranian theatre.
In last 40 years ago that some researches were done on Iranian plays, sometimes there were plays that had bald acting in theatres of Tehran and provinces. “Bald Enayat”written and directed by Javad Ensafi is one of these new experiences that is very new. The biggest and most powerful bald paladin fights with Shah Abbas the most powerful king of Safavid.
“This work came out from my researches about plays of Safavid and Shah Abbas time. Social criticism with satire and profiting from music are some of the characteristics of this kind of play that it can be entertaining for all adiences in every age, from 5 to 95.”Javad Ensafi explains about the play.
Theatre “Bald Enayat”will perform in Sangelaj theatre hall from August 25th.
