Joint Play of Iran and Iraq Kurdistan in Puppet Theatre Festival-Mobarak

“Hiva” play written by Naeem Bazrkar and directed by Saba Mowlavi will be performed in 15th Iran Puppet Theatre Festival-Mobarak with cooperation of artists of Iraq Kurdistan.
Iran Theater- Ritual puppet show “Hiva” based on rite of Praying for Rain and folk story of “Boukeh Varaneh” or “Rain Bride” will be performed with Kurdish songs and vocals.”
In the rite of Praying for Rain in Iran and Iraq Kurdistan region, doll of Boukeh Varaneh is in middleman of Man and God to bring rainfall in order to public prays. People with Boukeh Varaneh gather in a holy point like holy shrines and pray for rain from bride rain which back to his ancestors Annahita in Ancient Iran.
If it rain Boukeh will be changed to a holy doll and its cloth’s parts go to villagers’ houses and if nor rains nobody complains Boukeh. Their belief is that their pray was not honest. However, they leave Boukeh Varaneh in a river with this belief that Boukeh has drone itself in order to his shame.
This ancient rite became dramatic style in “Hiva” puppet show with cooperation of Iranian and Kurdish artists which will be performed in 15th Iran Puppet Theatre Festival-Mobarak.
Hediyeh Azadeh, Neda Izadi, Bita Baharloo, Azshin Zaeem, Golnoush Taaheri, Saman Farshidnia, and Ghazaleh Marsousi, Ali Vojdani as puppeteers of “Hiva” play.
15th Iran Puppet Theatre Festival-Mobarak in directorship of will be held in 11-18 September in Tehran.
