Iranian Romeo and Juliet in a Puppet Opera

Puppet opera “Leili and Majnoun” written by Haji Beygof from Azerbaijan directed by Behrouz Gharibpour will be performed in Turkish language from September 14th in Ferdowsi hall.
Iran Theater-Puppet opera “Leili and Majnoun” written by Haji Beygof efrom Azerbaijan based on “Laili and Majnoon” story written by Mohammad Fozouli and Nezami Ganjavi and designed and directed by Behrouz Gharibpour will be performed.
Long poem of “Leili and Majnoun” is one of the most famous classic love stories versed by Nezami Ganjavi(12th Century) who fall in love in a traditional school. Majnoon’s propose has been fall and even leads to a tribe war.
Recreating its music which is known as the Romeo and Juliet of Middle East was performed by well-known signers of Azerbaijan like Amir Bahzad, Zaynab Khanlar Aava, Aaref Babayof, and Rashid behboudof.
in this play by using different techniques in designing, puppet making, and depth of field which is in the scene also the sketches in background, the audience feel himself inside the stage.
Behrouz Gharibpour is one of the veteran Iranian directors that before “Laili and Majnoon” has performed other puppet operas like “Rostam and Sohrab”, “Mackbeth”, “Ashura”, “Mowlavi”, and “Hafez” with cooperation of Aran Puppet Theatre Group in different countries.
