A &quotDorian Gray&quot member: Iranians are the best theatre viewers in the world

Marcus B.T.T and Azra Morene, members of Dorain Gray theatre group attended at international section of the festival with "Dancing Hands".

As the group representative, Markus B.T.T talked to Iran Theatre and explained about his performance experience in Iran, puppet theatre and Comedy in his works.

Elaborating about their group's name he said, "The picture of Dorian Gray" is title of a famous American novelist, Oscar Wild. We have played with this name in Spanish and chose it as the name of the group. Mostly, it’s a humor to indicate our group's approach more clearly."

The actor also explained about magician techniques and using balloons in their work and said, "before we met, my collogues and me had been in different works, he was a magician and learnt in from his father, and I was a comedian. We met and mixed what we knew and what we wanted and finally made the group. Balloon work is a common magician technique. We changed it to what we desired and using balloon puppets we created a puppet show."

"Humor is the basic element in our work so we possess an international culture. We can say we are inspired by Japan Bunraku puppet style as well as classic and silent movie. It doesn’t mean we are influenced by them directly but cinema is important to us. At the end of the Dancing Hands, we have applied a technique which is so close to animation.", he added.

The artist explained about his experience in Iran and added," we didn't know what is waiting for us here in Iran and now we are surprised. Iranians are the best theatre viewers in the world we found Iranians sense of humor so close to ours. Here, people are so friendly and kind, and of course well-dressed."
