An Armenian Director Talked About Iranian Audiences’ Enthusiasm

Ara Routonian from Armenia who participated with “Cinema” play in Marivan theatre festival pointed to enthusiasm of Iranian audience to theatre.

Iran Theatre- Ara Routonian who participated with “Cinema” play in Marivan international outdoor theatre festival talked about the performing ideas of his play and said: “our work is a combination of circus and pantomime, while we tried to have different attitude in performance. The play that we go it on stage is a small part of multi-episode play.”
“The main idea is about considering cinema conditions because I think cinema is very worthy. The performance is one hour and 15 minutes but we perform it here in two 30-min parts. This is back to limitation of our setting and equipments.” He added.
Director of “Cinema” play pointed to people warm welcoming of his work and said: “Controlling is very hard. In such performance if you lose your concentration you will lose whole the performance. In fact, in such plays actors can show their important role.”
He said about his familiarity with Iranian theatre and its audience: “I became familiar with Iranian theatre by Fajr International Theatre Festival. In that time I saw just two or three works but people welcoming was interesting for me. In Tehran people who watch plays do not do it just as a watch but they took ideas from watching.”

Routonian noted that in Armenia there is no outdoor theatre and explained: “In Armenia we do not ha e a band which only performs outdoor theatre. Dramatic groups have only one-two program in outdoor theatre which are mostly in festivals because there is no exact place that you can practice there in month.”

”this festival is special. I have many experiences in performing in different countries but here people are not indifferent to theatre, they want to see works and learn they do not pass by anything indifferent.” the director said about Marivan Outdoor Theatre Festival.
“Cinema” play directed by Ara Routonian has two performances in Marivan Outdoor Theatre Festival.
