Director of “London, Rome, Tehran, Amsterdam”: Images of Iranians and Westerns from Each Other Are Flaky

Director of “London, Rome, Tehran, Amsterdam” believes that this play is about the flaky image which we have from our different cultures and people who make these differences.

vand Dasht Aray who will perform the play “London, Rome, Tehran, Amsterdam” with presence of cast from four countries of the world in Hafiz Hall, pointed to cultural misunderstood as the main theme of the play and said: “For a long time I was thinking of this idea. It means images which were made from Iranians for western people and vice versa. On the other hand, I think of how can we do it with theatre as a very small media in comparison of other big Medias?”

He spent two years for this performance and mentioned to his actors who are from four different countries of the world and added: “The cast are from England, Italy, Netherlands and Iran. This play is not based on storytelling and I has not a determined text. We had researches and knowledge on cultural misunderstood and worked based on them, also, during rehearses some improvising were formed by the cast that I wrote the text based on them.”

Dasht Aray knows the play as a continuous project and noted: “Performances of London and Amsterdam have become scheduled and we are working on performances for Rome and New York.” 

Play “London, Rome, Tehran, Amsterdam” written and directed by Arvand Dasht Aray with acting Melody Aram Nia, Amy Strange (England), Marta Paganeli (Italy), Neda Jebraeeli, Maysam Mirzayi, Marene VanHolk (Netherlands) will be performed in Hafez Theatre Hall of Tehran from 17 November to 10th December.
