Director of “Bald Singer”: Absurd Acting Is A Wrong Idea

Farzad Dehnavi director of “Bald Singer”: said that I learned from Master Samandarian that “Audience” is the A to Z of theatre and there is nothing else.
Iran Theatre- Farzad Dehnavi director of “Bald Singer” said that the play will be performed from December 2nd in Entezami Hall of Iranian House of Artists, he pointed to some reasons for choosing this piece and added: “I was interested in Unesco’s works from student time. One of his best works is “Bald Singer” because his concerns while he was writing the text was taken from social concerns which all the people in the world have are engaging with and that is empting the concept in communication. This is the concept that the playwright portraits it sometimes with emphasis.”
He emphasized on importance of Unesco’s play and continued: “I think Unesco himself didn’t think that he belonged to theatre but he counted himself as a poet and theorician. People like him are rather philosophers than everything else and for narrating their words they have to use an artistic form. Unesco chose theatre. “Bald Singer” is one of his dramatic texts. This play faced with many criticisms because of anti-theatre ideas it had also deconstructive structure.”
Dehnavi pointed to this issue that audience has very special situation and said: “In this play there is no story, it means it hasn’t drama element, a story which is important for everyone. So, we have to entertain audience with something else to show that absurdity. Undoubtedly, the play will be attractive even for regular audience too.”
He talked about some other specialties of the text and said:”I added a character and an element in setting to the performance of the play. Adding this two things are in order that analysis I had from Unesco’s concern.”
