Behnaz Jafari: Role of Margaret Moore in “A Man for All Seasons” Is Less than Her Real Character In the History

Behnaz Jafari who plays in the role of Margaret Moore in “A Man for All Seasons” in Vahdat Hall said that audience welcoming of the play was predictable.

Iran Theatre- Behnaz Jafari plays in the role of Margaret Moore daughter of Sir Thomas Moore in “A Man for All Seasons”; the girl who has an important role in the history and followed her father’s way even after his death.

“Margaret Moore has been an effective character in England History. She took her father’s corpse from head of London Tower after his execution and kept it to herself in her house, and then later she followed his way.” She explained about the character.

She added about situation of Margaret character in the play: “Of course the dramaturgy of the play is in the way that we were so loyal to the main text and roles of women are so fading in it. Historically, these characters had potential to have more colorful roles and have separated storylines but it wasn’t the text’ choice.”

Actor of role Margaret Moore explained about classic performance of Robert Bolt’s work: “I have always liked classical works; classical music, texts, and dramas. Unfortunately, these plays have so limited performances in Iran because general idea is that Iranian audience will less welcome them.”

However, Bahnaz Jafari believes that welcoming of audience was predictable because of famous actors, and director, professional cast and its fascinating subject and added: “Beside Bahman Farman Ara(Director and actor of “Cardinal” role) and Reza Kianian (Actor of Sir Thomas Moore role) some other the cast were best of Iran theatre; selection of professionals and the best ones. “

“A Man for All Seasons” written by Robert Bolt and directed by Bahman Farman Ara is being performed until /December 25th in Vahdat Hall.
