Iran Theatre- Marta Paganelli who is in Iran these days for acting in “London, Rome, Tehran, Amsterdam” said that it was her first experience in acting in a intercultural play and continued: “In this project we were whole day together, so we got friend with each other. This made a depth relationship to us, an intercultural experience.”
“When I came to Iran I felt someone as foreign. After a while, I saw and experienced common and difference points with my homeland. Now, I know that how to travel in Tehran by subway or taxi, it seems that I became part of Iranian society in a short time; rules, habits, traditions,…they all became part of my life.” She added.
Paganelli pointed to starting their rehearsal before her arrival to Iran and said: “Firstly, they gave me some questions. We were at first six actors and divided to two-person groups. Each group started to transmitting information. Also Arvand Dasht Aray sent some questions; questions which could explain us and our cultures.”
“Those questions were different like who is your favorite philosopher? Or what happened when you fell in love for the first time? And…those questions and their answers made knowledge for us. After that we started to write primary scenes and simple dialogues.” The actress added.
The Italian actress of “London, Rome, Tehran, Amsterdam” said about profiting of sources and dramatic roots of her country and added: “Beside Comedia Del arte, we have Italiano theatre and opera. There is a general form between audience and actors and this is the fourth wall. Of course, there were attempts to have connection between audience and the cast. This is back to education too. Our English teachers said that have communication with your audience, but in Italy words are important; how you read and present the text.”
“London, Rome, Tehran, Amsterdam” written and directed by Arvand Dashtaray is being performed until December 10th in Tehran Hafez Hall with acting Italian, English, Dutch and Iranian actors.
