One Day with Canadian Teachers in City Theatre Complex/We Didn’t Expect to Face with Such Talented Eager Students

Robert Greenwood and Dana Lubek, two Canadian artists started their 10-day classes in City Theatre Complex from middle of last week; classes which focus on physic and acting. They both say that they didn’t expect to face with such talented eager students.

Iran Theatre- Main Hall of City Theatre Complex experiences different noon from its night performances. Students of Dana Lubek start their class at 13 in main hall of City Theatre Complex. Students of Robert Greenwood come to conference hall a few hours later. These two Canadian artists who have worked on techniques and skills of acting, boy and language traveled to many countries. In one of their trips, they became familiar with an Iranian group “Zendegi” and this familiarity changed to a reason to their travel to Iran and holding classes in City Theatre Complex.

Robert Greenwood says about his classes and his teaching methods to Iran Theatre: “We try to teach fundamental skills to use it in their whole life. For both of us it is very important that our students get what they needs and then they can enter to those atmospheres they want and experience. I have many students in different countries of the world. Ed Harris is one of them. They are in different parts of the world New York, London, Paris to Hollywood and they stood on their feet and do their job.”

Greenwood added about his Iranian students: “We are so surprised of what we saw here and we didn’t expect what it is here. These students are like sponges that absorb and learn whatever I and Dana say. We try to teach them different techniques while they are so skilled and they knew many techniques from before.”

Dana Lubek sits beside me after the finishing his class to talk more about his experience of his travel to Iran also his class. His class is more based on strengthening of physical movements which is an important point and must be taught from childhood: “Today kids are so busy with entertainments and technologies that they are far away of their bodies. The fact is that if you are not an actor you must work on your body. Brain, body, and emotions of mankind are related to each other.”

The Canadian teacher said about his Iranian students: “This class is very interesting. I have a mixture of directors and actors and some of them are not used to move, while they are eager to learn.”

This Canadian teacher said that he didn’t expect that his Iranian students be such eager and talented: “Every workshop has a unique experience that in it something will be added to me for sure. The workshop is the same and after a while I understand that how much it had influenced on me. However, being updated, creativity and skills of my Iranian students made me surprised and I saw them very eager to learn.”

These workshops which were started from 8th December will be continued until December 15th. In which of them 20 students are present and as these Canadian teachers said the main aim of these classes are not just teaching techniques and skills but increasing self confidence and reaching calmness among youth.
