When Hamlet Changed to be Antagonist/An Interview with Director of “Day of Death in Hamlet’s Story”

Director of “Day of Death in Hamlet’s Story” said that he could portrait Hamlet as he liked.
Iran Theatre- Faranak Sabayi who directed “Day of Death in Hamlet’s Story” in House of Iranian Artists said: “The play is the special reading of the writer Bernard Mary Colts from Shakespeare’s Hamlet. In this work conspiracies are limited to four main characters and a young couple is faced to an old one.”
“Structure of the play is loyal to the main one but Colts changed the angry relationships delicately. Claudius and Gertrud push Ophelia towards Hamlet with conspiracy. From vision of Colts, Denmark’s prince is antagonist and victim of his ancestors.” He added.
Sabayi pointed to the writer: “Colts dramaturges Hamlet as well as Shakespeare and narrates the play with four main characters. He doesn’t harm the main text of Shakespeare.”
She explains about performing styles in “Day of Death in Hamlet’s Story”: “I tried to be loyal to the text but I forced to summarize or unite some parts because of time limitation.”
Faranak Sabayi finally said: “The main important specialty of the text was that I could portrait a Hamlet who has been updated. A Hamlet who is always exists even in our time.”
“Day of Death in Hamlet’s Story” play written by Bernard Mary Colts and directed by Faranak Sabayi is being performed every day but Saturdays at 18 in Entezami Hall of Iranian House of Artists.
