Naser Hosseini Mehr: “Mauser” Is Full of Invectives like Other Heiner Müller’s Works

Naser Hosseini Mehr said that the doors of Iranian theatre must be opened to the contemporary generation and stages won’t be the only witnesses of the old generations’ art.

Iran Theatre- Naser Hosseini Mehr  who is practicing on “Mauser” play of Heiner Müller after performing “Hameletmachine” and “Hercules 5” which were his works too said about him: “Translation and performance of Heiner Müller is not easy because understanding his text is under the layers and need to knowledge about Democratic German history and East Block. Heiner Müller emphasized on complicated relations of dictator governments, so his works are full of invectives and anger and his scenes has no calmness.”

He explained that “Mauser” was a type of weapon which was common in 20th century and continued: “The play was written in 1970, when Muller wrote “Mauser” its publication and performance was banned because he revealed anger of Eastern Germany government with splendid brevity. In fact, the play was staged after breaking of Berlin Wall.”

Hosseini Mehr added: “When I lived in Germany I became familiar with the playwright and I liked his concise, magic and modern structure of his works. In this way and for knowing him better I started to translate his work to Persian. I believe that Muller didn’t reach to his place in Iran and our theatre mainstream doesn’t know him as much as it must.”

The director emphasized on the act of actors and assured: “The play need to young and energetic actors, so I gave a call for such actors. In the play 24 actors were chosen from 300 volunteers.”
