First Performance of the American Writer, Lanford Wilson In Iran

“Ludlow Fair” directed by Mehdi Zia Chamani is the first play of Lanford Wilson, the American writer which is performed in Iran. The play is participated in New Look section of 33rd Fadjr Theatre Festival.

In a received report from public relations of 33rd Fadjr Theatre Festival, Mehdi Zia Chamani talked about the play “Ludlow Fair” which is participated in New Look section of 33rd Fadjr Theatre Festival and said: “Playwright of the play, Lanford Wilson is the American writer whose none of his works were performed in Iran and never been translated before. Moeen Mohab Alian translated it recently and I became familiar with it by him.”

In “Ludlow Fair” Mahsa Ghafourian and Neda Asadi are acting and they are the only actors of the play. Zia Chamani explained aboutcharacters of the play: “The play has only two characters who are Rachel and Agnes. They are two old women that in the play we just see a very short moments of their talks and confabulations before sleep. All the play is in one act without turning off the lamps. “

Mehdi Zia Chamani emphasized on the issue that Fadjr Theatre Festival gives opportunity to provincial artists and added: “True originality of theatre is in public and long show; the opportunity which is not happened for us in province. The only way for being seen and learn is participating in Fadjr Theatre Festival.

33rd Fadjr Theatre Festival with directorship of Ardeshir Salehpour will be held from 21st January to 1st February 2015.
