Hengameh Mofid: “Mali” Is A Play Based on My Beliefs on Iranian Traditional Atmosphere

“Mali” comedy play written by Hengameh Mofid and directed by Hengameh Mofid is being performed in Tehran Master Entezami House Museum.

Iran Theatre- The play is a cooperation of actors and puppets together and has old atmosphere with folklore music which absorbs audience.

Hengameh Mofid who wrote the play explains about the main subject of it: “The story is about a music band that enters to a mansion. They came for a wedding for seven days and live there. During these days they became familiar with servants and communicate with them.”

She points that music and song are so important in the play and says: “Music is an important element. I made something in some places that I thought it needed. But sometimes I preferred to use folklore music but most of songs were composed by me. I didn’t focus on special music but I chose complex of music and songs and Mrs. Zamani respected me and my taste. Mr. Atashani’s music on these songs is so beautiful. “

“Characters if the play are speaking with music and song together so music is an important factor. “she adds.

Hengameh Mofid talks about her interest to Iranian traditional atmospheres and adds: “I very like Iranian traditional and old atmosphere maybe because I was grown up in that atmosphere. In such atmosphere I can explore story and write. This is the style I know. There are many wonderful and magnificent works in our literature which we can look at them and inspire from.”

The play is being performed every night in Master Entezami House Museum until March 9th at 7:30 p.m.
