A Landford Wilson’s Work Will Be Performed in Iran for the First Time

Iran Theatre- “Ludlow Fair” directed by Mehdi Zia Chamani will be staged in Bahar Theatre Hall of Mashhad from April 6th.

Zia Chamani pointed to the reasons of choosing the play and said: “The play has been written by the American playwright Landfor Wilson and translated by Moeen Moheb Alian. The work is being performed in Iran for the first time, so, it is a good happening for Iranian theatre especially that the playwright has been introduced to Iran by translating his works in Mashhad. “

“I directed the play before in New Generation section of 33rd Fadjr International Theatre Festival. I wanted to perform a play which all be in one act and to be told by limited characters. I have studied many plays and then I chose it from them.” He continued.

Zia Chamani explained about performing styles of the play and said: “Ludlow Fair is a realistic text but I’ve got distance from the atmosphere in directing, for sure not entirely but I tried to work in a libelous space.”

Zia Chamani pointed to the actors of the play and said: “Two actors of the play are among the best ones of Khorasan Razavi and it was important for me to work with them because acting is the very important element in the play. In provinces we have limitations of professional cast and crew but if you can gather a professional team you will estimate your success. Of course, Mashhad theatre is the best one after Tehran but it has still limitations, based on these things I can say that my team was great.”

“Ludlow Fair” directed by Mehdi Zia Chamani and acting of Neda Asadi and Mahsa Ghafourian is being performed from 5th to 24th April in Bahar Theatre Hall of Mashhad.
