Ebrahim Haghighi:

Rahmanian Successful in Directing Beyzaie’s Best Play

Ebrahim Haghighi, a graphic designer commended Mohammad Rahmanian, the noted Iranian theater director, for his success in direction of “Majlis-e Zarbatzadan”.

The graphic designer said that he had always watched the plays directed by Mohammad Rahmanian and loved the works. He added that he was keen on seeing Mr Rahmanian’s latest, which was “Majlis-e Zarbatzadan”—a play was written by Bahram Beyzaie and Mr Haghighi had read it before and regarded it one of the best plays penned by the legendary Iranian playwright and director.

“When I was informed that Mohammad Rahmanian was going to direct the play, a question popped into my head. How come a director other than Beyzaie, who stage his plays in the best way, can do the job,” Mr Haghighi argued. “I watched the play and saw that Mr Rahmanian did a great job.”

It was a difficult play but the actors had approached the roles very well, Mr Haghighi said and added that the movements by the actors was not easy either as the main auditorium of City Theater, country’s most important theater venue, had audio problems.

The actors had to shout for their voices to be heard and by the audience and that was a good move too, the graphic designer said.

The stage was designed perfectly and the music was great too, he praised, questioning Mr Rahmanian’s decision to give the role of the writer in the original play to a woman instead of a man.

“I do not get it what this change has added to the play,” he asked.

“Majlis-e Zarbatzadan”, a play about the martyrdom of the first Shia Imam Ali (AS) and his sublime character, is on stage in the City Theater now. The play, which is written by Bahram Beyzaie, is directed by Mohammad Rahmanian. Amir Jafari, Ramin NaserNasir, Reza Molaei, Ashkan Khatibi, Sina Razani, Sania Salari, Yaser Khaseb and Mahtab Nasirpour star in the play.
