Hossein Pourianifar:

Chignon Ready to Take Part in Int’l Festivals

Director of Chignon says the play will attend the international festivals.

Hossein Pourianifar said that Chignon was awarded the top play of Iran’s Student Theater Festival last year.

He told irantheater.ir that the play, which was staged in Mowlavi theater hall of Tehran last month, was ready to participate in the world theater festivals too.

“The movie of the play was submitted to several festivals in Ankara, Venice and Vietnam,” the director said. “We are waiting for their decision and will send the movie to other festivals whenever their calls for submission are released.”

Chignon, Mr Pourianifar said, was the story of four people who were caught in a place and were trying to release themselves. “Such entrapment and being under surveillance are the fact, which many world people have touched it. I think the play can connect to the audience.”

He added that some changes would typically be made in the play to make it ready for performances out of Iran.

Hamid-Reza Jamshidi, Amir Karimzadeh, Mohsen Mazaheri and Ebrahim Naeeij play in Chignon. Neda Nasr is the costume designer. Maryam Marzban, Farideh Ghashang and Hossein Pourianifar have deigned the makeup, poster and brochure and stage respectively. Hanieh Zahed is the photographer and Amir Ghalichi the public relations person. Mehrangiz Ghahremani is media advisor to the executive crew of the play.
