Mostafa Koushki said that “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare was adapted to be performed with the cooperation of Bagher Soroush.

Director of “The Wind Shakes the Window” told irantheater.ir that he started adaptation of Shakespeare’s play with Bagher Soroush last year.

“Our concern was to create a language and behavior for characters, which should neither be classic nor colloquial,” he said and added, “We focused on creating a primitive language, which should not be weird but take the form of the play and we had finally been successful.”

Mr Koushki explained that they did create primitive, childlike and fearless behaviors for characters and the actors gave their touch to the characters then.

Intending to create a magical ambience for the play, he said that the method of performance was based on magic and the concept of circus helped in this regard too.

“The fantasy world of the play dominates the stage and costume designs, music and acting of the play, helping us to perform the world of jennies, fairies and Athenians,” Mr Koushki elaborated.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” will stage in Tehran Independent Theater Hall for a month from July 17 to August 17 at 19:15.
