Hadi Hejazifar to Compete with “Macbeth”

Hadi Hejazi says Tehran International Puppet Festival needs financial supports.

Hadi Hejazifar sad that “Macbeth” was one of the best plays written by “Shakespeare” and added that he decided to stage the play for puppet show at the 16th Tehran International Puppet Theater Festival (Mobarak).

“My approach towards the play is modern. I have kept the sequence of the play during the dermatology but focused on the scenes that have been attractive to me and not given due attention so far,” Mr Hejazifar told irantheater.ir.

He added that the play would be performed for the audience after it was staged in the festival.

The play was a puppet show in which puppets and actors would play, Mr Hejazifar said.

“Macbeth is a brave commander who becomes victim to a temptation in an instant and gets involved into numerous things,” he said. “Violence can be seen in the play but I liked to stage it with a fantasia approach. It was important for me that puppet show will add to the capabilities of the play.”

The performance, he added, was also a new experience because of the high number of actors.

Actors and actresses such as Ebrahim Amini, Arash Falahatpisheh, Mina Shojaeian, Parinaz Lotfollahi and Farhad Tafreshi will play in Mr Hejazifar’s “Macbeth”.

“The puppet show circle has been so lucky that Marzieh Boroumand (a veteran theater artist) is the secretary of the festival whose presence is a breath of fresh air into the event,” he explained.  The most important point for the festivals, especially the puppet show event, was the financial support which could help improve quality of the plays ready for public show, Mr Hejazifar concluded.
