Andranik Khechoumian Publishes Four Plays

Andranik Khechoumian has translated four Armenian plays and publishes them in two books.

Andranik Khechoumian said he had translated “The Era’s Game” and “An Essay about the Handkerchief”, which were written by Karine Khodikyan.

Kouleh-Poshti (backpack) Publishing House was going to publish these two plays in one book, he told irantheater.ir.

“The Era’s Game” is about a ruler who decides to delete one day from the calendar but to no avail.

“An Essay about Handkerchief” is about Desdemona’s handkerchief. Several characters talk about the handkerchief. The play has staged in Armenia several times and participated in international theater festivals too.

Mr Khechoumian said that he ended translation of two plays -- “The Last Rehearsal” and “The Killer” -- which were written by Nouraiz Adelian and Gagik Karapetian, respectively.

Nila Publishing House will publish the two plays, he added.

“Last Rehearsal” pictures a theater-loving couple who have engrossed in theater so much that have forgotten that life is a big stage per se.

“The Killer” is about a paid assassin who kills certain people and his last victim creates some problems for him that will lead to the murderer of the killer.

Mr Khechoumian, who is of Armenian origin, is a playwright, translator and director. Six plays “Axe”, “Living Here Peacefully and Gates”, “Last Clown and Sonoroya Myth”, “The Blinds and the Soldier”, “Princess and Prince” and “The Bewitched Lady” are translated by him.

His other works of translation include “Armenian Tales and Myths”, “Siavosh and Soudabeh”, “I May Be Rescued”, “I Arrived”, “The Forgotten Day”, “Vahan and Razmdokht”, “Trial” and “Strange Mrs Sovich”.

Namayesh (theater) Publishing House published a collection of his 12 translated plays from Armenian playwrights last year.

Ofogh (horizon) Publishing House printed his novel “The Wife of Chief Councilor” and Sakkou (platform) Publishing House his “The Clockmaker Girl and I” recently.
