Director: New Changes in “Socrates”

Fresh Ideas for Direction of Three Acts

Director of “Socrates” says he has new ideas for directing three acts of the play

Hamid-Reza Naimi said that the play would stage again from August 21.

Director and writer of Socrates said that the play would be performed for twenty nights with new changes in lighting, music and costume design.

Mr Naimi told irantheater.ir that the biggest change would happen in the direction method and added that the play would see no change.

“I am hopeful that my fellow actors will stage the characters of the play with new ideas,” he said. “I will definitely open to new ideas.”

He explained that the costumes of the play needed to be cleaned and repaired after some years so it was decided that Edna Zeinalian, the designer, to make new costumes. The same was for the lighting and music to breathe fresh air into the play with new ideas, Mr Naimi said.

He explained that the changes would affect the executive crew rather than audience as when the actors feel they were dealing with a new play thanks to changes, they could inject new soul into it.

Mr Naimi said that the team would keep on rehearsal by July 31 as the changes were aimed at making the play more attractive to the audience.

“Socrates” won four awards including the best play and the best direction (for Mr Naimi), the best actor (Farhad Aiish) and music (Siavosh Lotfi) at the 32nd Fadjr International Theatre Festival.

Farhad Aiish, Ayoub Aghakhani, Yaghoub Sabahi, Siavosh Cheraghipour, Naghi Seifjamali, Kataneh Afsharinejad, Bahar Nohian, Bahman Abbaspour, Reza Jahani, Behnam Sharafi, Parham Deldar, Majid Norouzi and Mehrdad Khani will play in “Socrates”.
