Positive Moves in Theater

Ali Jannati said that theater was a popular art whose artists could have direct connection with their audience.

“Fortunately positive moves have been taken. Some good plays were performed last year,” he said.

He added that theater tickets were sold out as Iran Artists Forum had scheduled the plays to be performed by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2017).

“Special care has been devoted for plays which respect the legal rules to be staged while some minor negligence can happen too,” the minister said. “I admit that in certain cases, it is possible that some sections, which are performed, not be included in the permitted play. Required legal actions are taken in this cases.”

Mr Jannati said that the responsibility to promote moral values was handed over to the minister of culture and Islamic guidance. “Not anybody can meet and talk to the cultural and art figures. This is a good chance which helps to improve the country’s culture.”

Addressing the provincial directors of the ministry, he said that you should involve in cultural activities in the regions you work and that give you a spirit which was important.

“If the spirit of the job you is not done for the God’s sake, that means we are in loss given that those working in the culture ministry do not have high salaries,” he explained.
