Director of “Dark Room”:
Play to Picture Emotional Divorce

Director of “Dark Room” says that he intended to picture divorce and following studies he decided to stage emotional divorce.
Mahmoud Kamali told irantheater.ir said that Hamed Shahabizad was the writer of the play.
“Following studies and talks with experts, we understood that emotional divorce is important, which must be dealt with seriously, especially as we see many couples are grappling with that and they do not understand that,” explained Mr Kamali. “Couples living in big cities will get divorce when they reach the conclusion that they cannot live together. But couples in small cities and towns stay together under one ceiling and tolerate one another.”
A member of Shaghayegh (tulip) group added that the play pictured a couple who had been wealthy in the early years of marriage until the man got bankruptcy. The new situation would deprive the woman of the ability to show off, leading to coldness and emotional distance between the couple.
Mr Kamali said that the play was submitted to Yazd provincial theater festival and he was waiting to receive the decision of the festival after its public performance.
