Fadjr International Theater Festival Appoints New International Director

Mehrdad Rayani-Makhsous Appointed Int’l Director

Saeed Asadi, secretary of the 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival, has introduced Mehrdad Rayani-Makhsous as director of the event for international affairs.

Mr Rayani retained the post, which he had in the 34th edition of the festival, irantheater.ir reported.

In the letter of the appointment, the international director of the festival was assigned to choose and introduce quality non-Iranian plays to the festival, pave the ground for inviting the leading non-Iranian theater artists and professors to hold workshops, speeches and academic meetings, introduce non-Iranian plays to compete in the festival and coordinated with international cultural centers and invite experts and directors and those involved in the international theater field as guest.

Mr Rayani, 45, holds a bachelor degree in dramatic literature, MA in theater direction and PhD of theater studies from the Manchester University.

He has written 14 books, 26 plays and directed 18 plays in Iran and 8 abroad.

He served in the capacities including director of research and publishing office of the Dramatic Art Center, director of the City Theater, director of the channel IV of the national television for theater, deputy chancellor of Islamic Azad University’s Central Tehran branch for education affairs and secretary of the first Soureh Maah Theater Festival.

The 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival will take place in Tehran from January 20 to January 31.
