Public Performance of Puppet Shows Backed

Director of the Dramatic Arts Center stressed that the center would support public performance of the puppet shows, which were taking part in Tehran-Mobarak 16th International Puppet Festival.

Mehdi Shafiei welcomed performing opportunity for all shows at the festival, the news headquarters of the Tehran-Mobarak 16th International Puppet Festival reported.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was sealed between the center and provincial officials last year to have the pieces performed publicly, irantheater.ir said.

Another MoU would be signed within the next two weeks in which one paragraph was devoted to supporting the public performance of the shows taking part in the Tehran-Mobarak 16th International Puppet Festival, he added.

“We are trying to have public performances in all the provinces for whenever the audience decide to see a piece, there would be at least one show in their city’s theater halls,” said Mr Shafiei and added that many families were keen on seeing puppet shows because they were more attractive for them. This enthusiasm would increase the number of theater goers in the provincial cities.

“I cannot promise all shows to have been performed publicly. But the center will promise financial support for every show that conclude a deal with a theater hall,” stressed the director.

He hoped the participants would perform quality pieces in the festival because this would guarantee their public performance.

Tehran-Mobarak 16th International Puppet Festival will take place on August 22-28. Marzieh Boroumand is the secretary and Payman Shariati the executive secretary.

Both officials will have a press conference next Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the City Theater.
