Artists Should Create from Heart

Mohammad Hossein Naserbakht, a theater expert, believes festivals help promote theater market and Razavi Theater Festival makes the audience in North Khorasan province to familiar with the country’s theater.
On the importance and influence of the festival, he said that the artists of North Khorasan province and its residents would have an insight into the country’s theater thanks to the Razavi Theater Festival, irantheater.ir reported.
Many festivals have been held every year in every corner of the world, which positively influence the audience, Iranian festivals were not an exception too, he said.
“Theater is not institutionalized in Iran yet. The country is lagging behind those countries with a history of several thousand years of theater,” Mr Naserbakht explained. “Theater gained momentum in 1980s but the country has not adopted a professional approach towards the field over the past two decades.”
He said that the experiences would be exchanged in the festivals.
On selection of works for the festivals, Mr Naserbakht said that the stage to choose the pieces should be precise and organizers should help perform the participating shows afterward.
“The criteria for each festival must definitely be different from the other. For example, Fadjr festival is different from theater of resistance or Razavi. Planning should be directed toward their objectives,” he said, stressing that new theater groups would be introduced and talents would be discovered during the festivals. The atmosphere of the professional theater did not let the youth to show their talents and they should start with festivals.
Fadjr International Theater Festival show the outcome of the country’s dramatic art each year, introducing new faces to the professional world, Mr Naserbakht said and singled out fairness as the most important characteristic for each festival that the youth was seeking.
Naserbakht said that the artists should follow their heart to stay away of propaganda.
“Razavi National Theater Festival, resistance and sacred defense festivals deal with certain types and subjects of theater. The ethical and religious subjects are sensitive. Whenever artists create from their heart, they could stay away of propaganda,” Mr Naserbakht said, urging the officials to be open to criticism and did not limit the environment to have a better condition.
