Farhad Aeesh on Theater Festivals
Hosting No Festival Will Not Benefit Iran Theater

Many theater artists believe that hosting a weak festival benefit the art more than getting rid of all of them.
On festivals and their impacts, Farhad Aeesh, veteran actor and director, asked, “Is it impossible to regard a festival in which many participants take part fruitless?
“Whenever a large population are trying to organize a good event for the country, that means positive,” he added.
The director of “The Toth Family” said that many talents shone in numerous festivals such as Marivan, Fadjr and Razavi. “Festivals can generally serve as venues for identification of the talented youth who face a bumpy professional road ahead. Their participation in the festivals and presentation of pieces before the jury can help them prove their talents.”
The director of “Suitcase” said that an overhaul needed for the rules governing the festivals. Aeesh, however, added that he agreed in no way with the idea that the country did not have any festival.
“We have been facing shortage of theater events now and getting rid of festivals will worsen the situation,” he argued.
