Director: “4:23 Before Incident” a Live Piece

Seyyed Saeed Mousavi Razi told irantheater.ir that the piece, whose duration was four minutes and twenty-three second, would tell the story of the last king of the Zand dynasty, who reigned during 1789-94. The outdoor show will utilize from the multimedia and shadow.

He added that the puppets would be coupled with the shadow of humans, effects, images and animated pictures. The audience would see Lot Ali Khan, his wife and two of his closest friends. Agha Mohammad Khan and many of his soldiers.

The animation and video art usage of the puppet show might put some individuals in mistake that the piece was a video, the young director said. “This is not true and we show a live puppet show and they will see the shadows of actors instead of them.”  

Mr Razi said that he had written the play and tried to be a linear and simple story to be able to show the images.

“I intend to produce another show using these techniques and expand this piece too,” he said. “It may seem odd for some that we have been working and rehearsing four hours per day over the past ten months for this show. We have tried different materials and techniques to reach this conclusion.”

He noted that the show was the result of a research project, which the team hoped to expand.

Rasoul Ranjbar is the assistant director, Shabnam Taghavi the second director assistant and the secretary, Farzin Isar the graphic and effect designer. Also, Mohammad Bagheri is the trainer of combat movements and Mandana Bagheir the accessories designer and maker and Mehrnoush Bayani the costume designer of the puppet show.

Erfan Choukhideh, Javad Hajilouei, Mahgol Saberi, Armin Hosseinzadeh, Mohammad Hosseinpour Aboli, Hamid Reza Rezaei, and Mostafa Alherz are the cast. Negar Bakhshizadeh is the photographer and Mohammad Ali Rouzbehani the background designer.

On the festival, Mr Razi said that it was very well organized and the jury did a great job, which make him to count down for it as he was expecting a good event.

He concluded that the puppet show festival would give the artists a chance to see new experiences during a limited time.
