Mehdi Shafei, the director of the Dramatic Arts Center, sent a message on the opening of the Tehran-Mobarak 16th International Puppet Festival.

“Art is the noblest chance for dialogue. A dialogue, which is full of queries and curiosities. The pure nature of the artist has always been an explorer of eternity and happiness. This ideal could not be materialized unless with a simple and candid language. Theater is the art of dialogue. It is an art which tells the story of the mankind consciously.
Language of theater will guide its thirstiest audience toward the spring of the understanding and wisdom due to its influence and honesty. These puppets and marionettes are the purest and simplest story tellers in this utopia, which tells and seeks the truth thanks to its pure spirit.
We should not forget that our time is the time of alas and regrets for what we have lost and what we are seeking for. Puppets are the honest tellers, which create the sweetness and bitterness of the world with no fears.
The world of puppets is the world of curiosity and exploring, a world, which complains of angers and violence and wishes for the happiness and peace for all the world.
The 16th International Puppet Festival seeks innovative methods to have a hopeful and happy society with the evolutionary targets.
