City Theater Festival to Pay Tribute to Two Theater Artists
Akbar Zanjanpour & Maryam Motaref Will Be Commemorated

The 5th City Theater Festival will pay a tribute to Maryam Motaref and Akbar Zanjanpour during its upcoming edition.
The festival, which pays a life achievement tribute to Tehran theater artists each year, will commemorate two renowned figures of the capital’s dramatic arts in its fifth edition.
Born in 1945, Maryam Motaref is a university professor, director, actress, costume designer as well as former director of the Theater Production Office. She is a graduate of Fine Arts Faculty of Tehran University. Ms Motaref has a master degree in theater from Paris University, irantheater.ir reported.
Her career spans five decades, encompassing a body of work including acting, designing and directing. She played in “Lessons of Life”, “Slowly with the Rose”, “Parasites” and directed “The Landing of Siavoshan”, “The Mother of All Esfandiars”, “Uncle Hashem”, “The Great Wall of China”, “The Tales of You and I and Shahnameh”, “Gazelles and Humans”, “Night” and…
Akbar Zanjanpour was born in 1946. A university professor, actor and director, Mr Zanjanpour is a graduate of Fine Arts Faculty of Tehran University. He holds the emblem of merit in art, which equals a PhD degree, from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. His career includes acting in over 30 plays such as “Railway”, “Negar”, “Pearl”, “The Cherry Orchard”, “Ivanov” and “An Enemy of the People”.
The commemoration ceremony of the noted theater figures will take place in the City Theater in Tehran.
City Theater Festival has so far paid tribute to Hossein Moheb-Ahari, Mahmoud Ostadmohammad, Ali Nasirian, Esmail Khalaj, Davoud Rashidi and Davoud Daneshvar.
The festival will open on September 12 by Artistic and Cultural Organization of Tehran Municipality.
