The 28th Isfahan Theater Festival, which had opened on September 5, closed Wednesday evening after announcing the award winners.
Director of the Dramatic Arts Center, Mehdi Shafie, expressed satisfaction over attending the closing ceremony, saying that the popular performances should have been improved across the country, irantheater.ir reported.
"We are witnessing good news on different pieces being performed in the city of Isfahan in recent days. Such pieces have gained momentum in Isfahan more than before," he said.
Mr Shafie stressed the need of art for a developed society as many art universities were established with close to 2,000 graduates each year. "That means theater is a must for our society. But we should lay the groundwork for the artists to present their products as it is compatible with such interest and need. But we regretfully could not make the required infrastructure ready for such presentation."
He added that the art was run by private sector and art companies, meaning that strengthening the sector was one of important targets of the art.
Mr Shafie praised the Isfahan Culture and Islamic Department for breathing a fresh air into the city's art, saying that the plan to establish local theaters would be immune to managerial pressures if it had needed legal credits.
Reminding that 27th of March, which was the seventh day of the Iranian calendar year, was named as the national theater day, he called on artists and officials to join hands to use potential of Nowrouz to give New Year holidays "the color and smell of theater".
