Neda Shahrokhi Will Take "Medea" to Greece

Neda Shahrokhi will hold a tour of "Medea" to Greece after its performance in France.

Neda Shahrokhi, director, university professor and director of Fanous Theater, is to start "Medea" tour from September 17 in Greece. The piece is produced by Pars Cultural and Artistic Institute –Fanous, irantheater.ir reported.

Medea written by Euripides is the story of a woman who takes revenge by killing her own children. Her husband Jason disregards her emotions, marries a princess which distances him from Medea and her children. The situation makes Medea deeply sad and angry but her husband does not regard his behavior as inhumane, ignoring Medea's demands. This is why Medea takes vengeance in the worst imaginable.

Ms Shahrokhi has so far directed "Human Is Human", "Snake and Ladder", "Déjà vu" and "The Opening". When she was touring France with "Medea", Ms Shahrokhi said, "The tragedy of "Medea", which was created 400 BC, has preserved all the feminine characteristics. This piece shows that "Medea" has turned into a doll after so many years and is unable to defend her situation. The show compares the contemporary "Medea" with the classic one delicately."

"Medea" is the product of eight specialized acting workshop, which was held by the international workshop center of Pars Cultural and Artistic Institute. The cast including Ava Tadayon, Elmira Ashofteh, Reza Maddah and Marjan Esfandiari are the students of the workshops. Sahar Saniei is the public relations director of the piece.

Neda Shahrokh toured France in March and April before her upcoming performance in Greece.
