On Last Day of Kerman Province Theater Festival

Dramatic Arts Center Director Visits Ongoing Sirjan Theater Project

The last day of Kerman Province Theater Festival was held with the participation of theater officials and province’s cultural directors in Sirjan.

Mehdi Shafiei, director of Dramatic Arts Center, Ghaseminejad, Sirjan mayor and Dr Alizadeh, director general of Kerman Culture and Islamic Guidance Department, visited a project to build a one-stage hall for the city of Sirjan. The city’s municipality has been constructing the stage, irantheater.ir reported.

Meanwhile, the closing ceremony of 27th Theater Festival of Kerman Province took place in the southeastern city of Sirjan on the Monday evening.

Dr Alizadeh, director general of Kerman Culture and Islamic Guidance Department, said that new approach was taken as of this year in province’s festival, which has its strong and weak points. The approach was taken after seeking the views of provincial artists, one of them was to turn the festivals into a venue for getting the theater artists of each province together, he added.

Mr Alizadeh said that the secretariat of the festival would continue activities to be ready for the next year festival.

He also welcomed the enthusiasm by the residents of the province of theater. “When theater can connect to the people, it will attract more audience…a festival without public connection will be fruitless,” Mr Alizadegh said.

Mehdi Shafiei, director of Dramatic Arts Center, praised the role of Kerman theater artists and authors, particularly Dr Farhad Nazerzadeh Kermani, in improving the province’s literature, art and culture.

“The country’s theater development owes to Farhad Nazerzadeh Kermani who is a good omen for the academic circle in Iran,” the official said.

Mr Shafiei also thanked the province’s Dramatic Arts Association and artists who helped the festival to be organized efficiently. “The theater festival of the province must serve the theater …and be audience-oriented.”

“We hope to move towards our final goal, which is holding regular public performances,” he added.

“If we want to have children who blend in the society easily, promote the culture, make the country more organized and walk closer toward a utopian society - wished by all -, we should take theater seriously,” he insisted.
