"Commander", which is written and directed by Nader Borhani-Marand, has opened in the main auditorium of the City Theater at the presence of some commanders of the Sacred Defense (1980-88 Iran-Iraq war).
"Commander", which is written and directed by Nader Borhani-Marand, started performance on Sunday, having some commanders of the Sacred Defense, deputy culture minister for artistic affairs, director of Tehran Culture and Islamic Guidance Department and a group of artists as audience, irantheater.ir reported.
Brigadier Fazli met the cast of the piece behind the scene, saying that "Commander" reminded him of braveries of martyr Hemmat and martyr Baqeri.
"I was proudly beside martyr Hemmat until his martyrdom because I was his deputy. I can sworn to God that I had not seen him to have a deep sleep until late midnight…He stressed that the country needed a servant to defend it and I was proud of being at the service of a man who spared no efforts in protecting the Islamic Revolution and the nation," the commander said.
If the country is secure now, it is because of the sacrifices of those who defended the country during the eight-year Sacred Defense, brigadier Fazli said and added that the obligation to make the new generation, who had not seen the war fronts, familiar with these sacrifices in a proper way would fall on the artists.
He said that the blood of those martyred during the war had brought security to the country as "you and I are living in a complete security and I proudly watched the piece" contrary to what the neighboring countries were experiencing.
"It may seem that you are performing a simple theater and that's all. But you should know what you and artists like you are doing in theater field to perform subjects on the Sacred Defense are constructive works from my point of view," Brigadier Fazli opined.
Ali Moradkhani, deputy culture minister, hoped that this piece would pave the way for more presence of commanders of the scared defense in theater venues.
Hedayat Hashemi, Nasim Adabi, Ahmad Kaveri, Neda Kouhi, Seyed Ali Salehi, Fereydoun Mehrabi, Hossein Pakdel, Nahid Moslemi, Mir Taher Mazloumi are the cast of "Commander". The piece, written and directed by Nader Borhani-Marand, are being performed every day except for Saturdays at 19:30.
