Kurdistan Artists Pay Tribute to Culture Minister

Behrouz Gharibpour: Ali Jannati Brotherly Stands at Artists' Side

The 11th Marivan International Street Theater Festival closed as artists paid tribute to the minister of culture and Islamic guidance.

Behrouz Gharibpour commemorated Ali Jannati and paid him awards on behalf of Kurdistan artists, irantheater.ir reported.

The noted theater artist said that Marivan was of importance because of its cultural and human resources potentials, which reminded him of the second largest city in Poland Krakow. "This city has a river, which is not as beautiful as Zarivar, and is famous as a tourist hub for its water games."

Zarivar can turn into a source of wealth, he stressed and added the talent of the artists of this land could be tapped with financial assistance from the government as the administration of President Hassan Rouhani was trying hard to improve the situation.

"I understand there is obstacles and wish them success as Ali Jannati is standing at artists side in a brother way and I do not expect miracle," Mr Gharibpour said. "But our needs can be recognized with a little bit of evaluation."

People of Marivan had supported this festival under the worst circumstance, which deserve praise, Mr Gharibpour said and added that of course, the festival faced weaknesses such as lack of permanent secretariat and not knowing its next secretary.

He hoped that the Rouhani government would experience a more peaceful second term to be able to resolve problems if re-elected next year.

One of the problems facing the city of Marivan was that it did not have a cultural venue, the theater director said. "A black box stage, which is popular everywhere in the world, can be built easily."

Mr Gharibpour suggested that the country would name September 26 as the national day of street theater.
