On 40th Day of Death of Davoud Rashidi in City Theater

Davoud Rashidi Award to Be Founded

It has been 40 days that Davoud Rashidi, renowned Iranian theater, television and cinema, passed away. A memorial service was held last night on the 40th day of his demise in main auditorium of Teharn City Theater.

Ehteram Boroumand, wife of Davoud Rashidi, revealed a decision by the family of the later art figure to hold a play reading session each year to raise fund for charity and award two artists of theater and cinema. The annual session will take place in a date between his birth and death anniversaries, irantheater.ir reported.

Mansour Zabetian was presenter of the ceremony while two pieces, directed by Mohammad Rahmanian and played by Ehsan Karami and Sina Raazani, were performed. The shows pictured the career of Davoud Rashidi in theater and cinema. Reza Yazdani also played guitar in the ceremony.

Various videos on activities, which included interviews with him, pieces of his movies, plays and television series, as well as the images of the veteran actor and director, were aired.

Hamid Amjad was among artists who delivered a speech on activities of 1960s and noted figures of that period.

Mr Zabetian asked Mahmoud Dowlatabadi, writer, to talk about Mr Rashidi. Mr Dowlatabadi, the noted novelist, reminded Mr Rashidi as one of the renowned figures of that time. Also Jafar Vali paid respect to the late artist and attended the ceremony.

Mohammad Rahmanian talked about theater career of Davoud Rashidi and his cooperation with noted figures of poetry, literature and art. He gave details on his life before and after 1979 Islamic Revolution, saying that his pieces had pioneered modern theater in Iran.

“Despite all obstacles and problems after the revolution, he was active and managed to get together the family of theater in 1980s again,” Mr Rahmanian said.

 Leili Rashidi, his daughter, Farhad Rashidi, his son, Sina, his grandson, thanked officials and people for commemorating Mr Rashidi after his death.

A group of officials and artists including Ali Moradkhani, deputy culture minister for art affairs, Hojatol Islam Doaei, Jafar Vali, Manijeh Hekmat, Mahmoud Dowlatabadi, Saeed Malekan, Ali Dehkordi, Mehdi Shafiei, Reza Behboudi, Siamak Safari, Amir Esfandiari, Azadeh Pourmokhtar, Hormuz Hedayat, Akbar Zanjanpour, Saeed Amirsoleimani, Kamand Amirsoleimani, Asghar Hemmat, Parviz Pourhosseini, Pantea Panahiha, Soheila Razavi, Dariush Shayegan, Fereshteh Sadrorafaei, Reza Babak, Pourahmad, Behzad Khodaveisi, Iraj Rad, Shahram Karami, Pourazari, Abolhassan Davoudi, Bita Mansouri, Khosro Ahmadi, Hossein Mosaferastaneh, Elham Korda, Shamsi Fazlollahi, Manouchehr Shahsavari, Fereshteh Taerpour, Kamran Maleki, Negar Eskandarfar, Hassan Fathi and Payman Shariati, director of City Theater, attended the service.
