Director of Dramatic Arts Center:
16 Cities to Host Religious Performances on Oct. 10-Nov. 20

Mehdi Shafiei, director of Dramatic Arts Center, said that 16 cities in the country would host 20 indoor and street pieces, which are devoted to the mourning for the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam Hussein (AS) during a period spanning his martyrdom anniversary -Ashura-- on October 12 to Arbaeen -40th days of his martyrdom in a battle in 680 AD on November 20.
Director of Dramatic Arts Center Mehdi Shafiei expressed condolences on the mourning days of the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam Hussein (AS), saying that some pieces with religious content have been produced by theater group, which would publicly be performed across the country, irantheater.ir reported.
He elaborated that 15 of the pieces would be performed on stage and five in the street under the title of “From Ashura to Arbaeen”, adding that provinces of Ilam, Tehran, Mazandaran, East Azerbaijan, Razavi Khorasan, Markazi, Kermanshah, Isfahan and Khuzestan would host the performances.
In Tehran province, he said, Shahre Ray and Islam Shahr as well as Namayesh Theater and Mehrab Hall would have performances while all cities in Mazandaran and Markazi provinces would host the pieces.
Also, Ta’zieh (traditional condolence theater) pieces to mourn Imam Hussein (AS) would be performed in the outdoor venue of Tehran City Theater.
The official said that different groups from dramatic arts association of provinces would have Ta’zieh and other mourning performances and theater in stage and street in Semnan, Fars, Kermanshah, Hamedan, Ardebil, Isfahan, Bushehr, Sistan-Baluchistan, Qazvin and Kohkilouyeh-Boyerahmad provinces.
“I hope these pieces would meet some demands from theater, which is its spiritual influence,” Mr Shafiei said. He thanked Mahmoud Farhang and religious theater center for choosing the pieces and making coordination for performances across the country.
