“Victims” to Go on Stage

“Victims”, which is written by Mohammad Khodaverdi and directed by Mehdi Fanaeiyan and Mohammad Khodavaerdi, is going to go on stage with the coordination of Religious Theater Office in the lunar month of Moharram (October 3-31), irantheater.ir reported.

Mehdi Fanaeiyan, one of the director of the piece, said that it would deal with historical stories contrary to the typical works on Ashura, the 10^th of Moharram, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam Hussein (AS). “The piece is a social work, which I have personal interest in it. It alos criticizes the typical mourning ways of today,” he added.

The director who had directed “Dying Like This” in Mehrab Theater said that he had been always worried to direct a piece about Ashura or other religious occasions because Ashura occupied a special status and it was not easy to make a show about it.

Fanaeiyan said that although he had directed several pieces on spiritual issues and war, “Victims” was his first direction on Ashura, predicting that the piece could attract the audience given its modern social theme.

Performed by “Shayan Group”, which is headed by Mr Fanaeiyan, the piece is going to be performed from October 26 to October 31. Golnaz Moradi, Hossein Asadi, Safoura Manafzadeh, Hamidreza Khodabakhsh and Mohammad Khodaverdi will play in “Victims”.

Abbas Amani is the set designer, Mohammad Qanbarnejad, the music composer and Nader Badrlou, the poster and brochure designer.

 “Victims”, which happens on Ashura day, revolves around social theme with a touch of miracle, family, behavioral and social problems.
