Iran’s Sole Representative in Kirkuk Festival Receives 4 Awards

“Crispy Potatoes” Back in Iran

“Crispy Potatoes” (pa tateh perjaveh kan) received four awards from Third Kirkuk International Street Theater Festival in Iraq.

The piece, which is performed by Anahita Theater Group of Saghez in western Iran, is directed and designed by Havery Rezaei. Havery Rezaei and Amin Sadeghi. The comedy in Kurdish language awarded the best director, best actor, best plan and idea prizes from the Third Kirkuk International Street Theater Festival, irantheater.ir reported.

The comedy criticizes bureaucratic maze in employment and unemployment of the youth while involving the audience in subjects such as addiction, academic education, marriage, having degrees. The piece creates a joyful yet tragic ambience.

“Crispy Potatoes” welcomed by the audience in Marivan International Street Theater Festival. Anahita Theater Group had performances in other Iraq’s Kurdistan Region in cities of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Soran and Rawanduz. Alireza Esmaili directed the former two pieces.
