Atabak Naderi: 57 Pieces Awarded in 31 Provincial Theater Festivals

Atabak Naderi, director of provincial affairs of Dramatic Arts Center, talked about the theater festivals in different provinces.

Atabak Naderi, director of provincial affairs of Dramatic Arts Center, said that 33 theater festivals were held in the country if Qeshm Free Trade Zone was included, adding that the events took place from September 21 to October 1, irantheater.ir reported.

Two festivals in south Kerman and Kurdistan had failed to hold the event before October 1, which would be organized in the first possible time, he said and explained that submissions in south Kerman were less than the needed requirement while Kurdistan province had experienced a busy cultural/art schedule.

 Naderi said that 57 pieces from 31 festivals would shortlisted for the next stage while five provinces had one top play and two other pieces had been introduced by five provinces.

On participation of women artist, the director said that the number of women artists had increased remarkably compared to previous editions. Three out of 56 playwrights and six out of 63 directors had been women, Naderi explained.

Over 50 pieces were originally written by provincial artists, the theater and cinema actor said.

On how these pieces were submitted to Fadjr International Theater Festival, Naderi said that the selection board of the festival would decide on the accepted works.

He said that the top pieces were introduced to prepare ground for a small theater market for future works and also their performance in the capital.
