Strengthening Cultural Relationship Will Resolve Regional Crisis

Javad Kerachi says the first meeting of the West Asian Countries' Directors of Performing Arts is of paramount important as the regional countries are wrestling with crisis, it is needed to expand cultural relationships with philanthropic feeling.
Javad Kerachi, theater director and documentary maker who has had performances in India and Germany in Persian, said that the meeting was positive, irantheater.ir reported. The cultural relationships between the countries had been important while the economically-powerful countries had always initiated the strengthening cultural ties throughout the history, he added.
"Now that most of the countries are struggling with the crisis in the region, it is needed that cultural relations will be bolstered with the philanthropic feeling and will resolve the regional crisis through this," the director said.
Kerachi described the role of culture between countries of great importance, adding that the countries had always managed to strengthen their economic, military and social ties through culture.
He said on the meeting that the countries which was invited to Iran could help open a new window for improving cultural ties given that the Islamic Republic has had a longer history of theater could play an important role in this regard.
There is a gap for participation of some countries like India with a long history of theater and cultural relations with Iran in the meeting, Kerachi said, adding that more Persian-speaking countries should have been invited too.
He said that some European countries like Germany, Austria, Hungary or former Yugoslavian countries should have been invited to expand relations.
"I have been active in other countries for years and can say that I am optimistic about such a meeting and Iranian artists," the director said. "It is no doubt our artists can introduce and share their new experiences to woo the attention towards the country's culture and cultural activities."
