Rajabi Memar: Iran Can Turn into a Serious Theater Education Center in West Asia

Iran can turn into a serious theater education center in West Asia and play an important role for theater in North Africa and Caucasia.

Majid Rajabi Memar, managing director of Iran Artist Forum, expressed satisfaction that Iran theater officials had used this opportunity and were hosting the meeting to exchange views with various countries, irantheater.ir reported.

The director said that Iran could have an effective role in this regard given its outstanding status of theater among Asian countries both in quality and quantity.

The event was handed over to the Dramatic Arts Center because the world theater officials are aware of the importance of Iran theater, Rajabi Memar said.

He added that the three-day meeting of twelve countries including Iran, Russia, Georgia, Algeria and Tunisia could provide other participating states with intellectual assistance. For instance, Russia has had a very outstanding, professional and reputed theater and cultural interaction with this country could be regarded as special opportunity for others.

These interactions would be a good chance for Iran theater too to establish a closer relations with the world and introduce its theater potentials, he stressed. "Iran can become a serious theater education focal point in West Asia and play an effective role for theater in North African and Caucasian region," Rajabi Memar argued.

The cultural director said that numerous theater venues, noted theater professors and lots of talented young workforce had been potentials of Iran theater to bolster relationship with the world.

The cultural officials should regard such event as a good omen and grab it as an opportunity for dialogue, he stressed

Tehran will host directors of performing arts of Western Asian countries from October 30 to November 1.

Theater officials and figures of Algeria, Oman, Iraq, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Azerbaijan Republic, Pakistan, Syria and Qatar are Iran’s guests during the gathering, irantheater.ir reported.

Iran will introduce its international theater festivals to the guests. Marzieh Boroumand, Davoud Fathalibeigi, Shahram Karami, Seyyed Fateh Badparva and Saeed Asaid will introduce puppet, ritual/traditional, children and young adults, Marivan street and Fadjr festivals to the delegations from West Asian countries.

Directors of Iran theater centers and bodies including Theater House, Art Center, Academic Theater, Tehran Municipality’s Art and Culture Organization will meet the delegations too.
